Family Group Conferencing Coordinator Requirements

Family Group Conferencing Coordinators must:

  • have a post-secondary educational qualificaiton in human services, or equivalent;

  • be familiar with relevant child welfare processes and policies;

  • complete Basic and Advanced Family Group Conferencing training;

  • be familiar with the Ontario Family Group Conferencing Manual;

  • complete a mentorship in the principles and practices of Family Group Conferencing;

  • be familiar with the dynamics of vulnerable and victimized populations.

Trainee Requirements

The coordinator-in-training will:

  • attend basic and advanced training in Family Group Conferencing;

  • complete relevant reading, including the Ontario FGC manual;

  • complete the application form on the George Hull website to be listed as a coordinator-in-training and to begin a mentorship;

  • complete a mentorship with an approved mentor. Coordinators in training cannot coordinate conferences independently until the mentorship is completed and their name is listed on the provincial roster of coordinators.
