Part-time Contract: Fundraiser The George Hull Centre for Children and Families is a children’s mental health centre serving children from birth to age eighteen, and their families. The Centre is accredited by Children’s Mental Health Ontario and funded by the provincial Ministry of Children and Youth Services. It is a non-profit, charitable organization, governed by a volunteer board of directors. The George Hull Centre is seeking an individual to initiate and develop its fundraising activities, on a part-time contract basis, 20 hours per week. Accountability: The fundraiser is responsible for developing and implementing a long-term fundraising program, with strategic short-term targets, under the supervision of the Executive Director and in consultation with the Board Fundraising Committee, in support of the vision and services of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: Development of fundraising database: • Develop a comprehensive database of constituencies, prospects and donors. Prospect Building • Identify and develop relationships with potential donors and sponsors. • Research the surrounding area for appropriate new business contacts. • Research corporations who support initiatives related to children or mental health. • Research foundations committed to children, families and related issues. • Research possible funding connections with community groups such as service clubs, churches, sports clubs, charity golf tournaments. • Maintain and develop contacts with current donors and implement a donor recognition strategy at the Centre. Campaign Development • Work with the Board Communications Committee to develop and implement communication plans to raise awareness of the Centre. • With input from the Communications Committee and Centre management, develop funding proposals (‘case for support’). • Work with the Fundraising Committee to define strategy and plans. • Report on issues, trends, tools and information that support achievement of goals. • Develop and implement a planned giving program. • Support and coordinate the fundraising efforts of the Fundraising Committee and Board members. Special Events • Participate in the development and coordination of special events. • Assist Fundraising Committee and Event Committee members with administrative support for event planning and management. • Research and identify current and prospective sponsors and participants for each event. Qualifications: University degree with an emphasis on administration, fundraising, marketing, public relations or equivalent related experience. Minimum 3-5 years fundraising experience with a track record of successful fund development is preferable. Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals an asset. An understanding of financial, legal and ethical issues of philanthropy. Results oriented. Strong proposal writing skills. Excellent management, written communication, organization, planning and problem solving skills. Working knowledge of database management, analysis, intermediate spreadsheet and word-processing software, as well as proficiency with Internet and e-mail. Flexible work schedule to accommodate the demands of the position.
