The Institute is proud to have been selected to host the 2020/2021 Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute (DDPI) conference. The conference will be June 14 – 16, 2021 and speakers will include many leaders in the field such as Dr. Dan Hughes, Dr. Diana Fosha, Dr. Patricia Vickers, Dr. Helen Minnis, and Dr. Jon Baylin.
One Day Intensive Conference with Dr. Ruth Lanius - April 19, 2021
Ruth Lanius, MD, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry is the director of the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) research unit at the University of Western Ontario. She established the Traumatic Stress Service and the Traumatic Stress Service Workplace Program, services that specialized in the treatment and research of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related comorbid disorders. Her research interests focus on studying the neurobiology of PTSD and treatment outcome research examining various pharmacological and psychotherapeutic methods. Check back here for further details.
Theraplay Level 1 & Group Theraplay Training with Dr. Evangeline Munns - Spring 2021
This workshop will discuss the fundamentals of Theraplay (theory, underlying dimensions, related brain research) as well as the importance of attachment and nurturing physical contact. The Marschak Interaction Method (MIM), a very useful family assessment method, will also be included. The format will include the use of lecture, videos, case illustrations and experiential activities.
Dr. Evangeline Munns is a certified clinical psychologist with extensive experience working with troubled clients of all ages from infancy to the elderly in family and group formats. She is a certified supervisor and trainer with the Theraplay Institute, Canadian Association of Play Therapy and the American Association of Play Therapy. She has received a number of awards for her work including the Monica Herbert award for “making an outstanding contribution to the field of play therapy in Canada” as well as a life time achievement award from the Canadian Association of Play Therapy.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Training
This training is suitable for professionals who have experience in working with children and families, or parents or caregivers, whose children have experienced developmental trauma and show attachment and relationship difficulties with their primary caregivers. This could be with adoptive parents, foster parents, kinship carers, or caregivers, such as in residential homes.
